You are here is Arturo Herrera’s first solo exhibition in New Mexico, and will feature works spanning almost three decades of the artist’s career, from 1998 to the present day. Known for his investigations of the complex histories and influences of abstraction, Herrera employs modernist strategies of fragmentation and repetition in his work, often utilising found material and iconographic imagery from popular culture. The exhibition will include sculpture, relief, painting, mixed media works on paper, collage, photography, glass and felt pieces. Two new commissions will also be unveiled: Split (2023), an architectural intervention in the gallery’s Wallerstein Family Courtyard and Terrace; and Quarry (2024), a large-scale, site-specific wall painting.
