Marisa Merz, Listen to the Space, opens tomorrow at LaM, Villeneuve d'Ascq, France.
This major exhibition will be the first retrospective of Marisa Merz in France for 30 years. Known as the only woman in the Arte Povera movement that emerged from a post-industrialised and tumultuous Italy in the 1960s, Merz (1926–2019) would go on to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2013.
Working in close collaboration with the Fondazione Merz, the museum will present a selection of some hundred works, a number of which will be on display to the public for the very first time. A catalogue to accompany the exhibition will be published by Éditions Fonds Mercator, including previously unpublished essays by Sébastien Delot, Marianna Vecellio and Andrea Viliani.
