11.9.24 - Arturo Herrera ‘Fare un giro’ at Supernova, Rome For his first solo exhibition in Rome, Fare un giro, Arturo Herrera will present a focussed selection of works including two series produced during the artist’s residency at the American Academy in Rome in 2023, on view for the first time at Supernova.

Herrera’s diverse practice often references the conflicted legacy of abstraction in dialogue with contemporary visual culture, utilising the modernist strategies of fragmentation and repetition. Ranging from traditional collages to sculptural compositions and assemblages, the artist’s works draw heavily on his extensive archive of found imagery. For this installation in the Italian capital, photographic reproductions of ancient statuary and Etruscan tombs are juxtaposed with the iconic pink pages of the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The exhibition is curated by Allegra Pesenti. A limited edition postcard by Arturo Herrera will be available for purchase at Supernova, with proceeds going to the local Community of Sant’Egidio.
