21.3.25 - Amy Sillman ‘Oh, Clock!’ at Ludwig Forum Aachen

Amy Sillman, Oh, Clock! at Ludwig Forum Aachen opens tonight, Friday 21 March, 7pm.

Oh, Clock! is the first major solo exhibition in Germany by Amy Sillman. Drawing on Sillman’s long and distinguished engagement with painting and its history, both on and beyond the canvas, the exhibition will offer a comprehensive exploration of the artist’s highly versatile and hybrid systems of artmaking.

Composed of two parts, part one will feature a focussed selection of Sillman’s work from the past decade, including 24 paintings, over 300 drawings, prints and collages, a number of large installations, and digital animations. The second part is a curatorial project by the artist that will feature hand-painted walls intervening diagonally in exhibition rooms, hung with works chosen from the Ludwig Collection.

Curated by Eva Birkenstock, with the curatorial assistance of Mailin Haberland and Anna Marckwald.

The exhibition is a cooperation with Kunstmuseum Bern and accompanied by the jointly produced publication Amy Sillman. Oh, Clock!, with contributions by Julia Bryan-Wilson, Sabeth Buchmann, Rose Higham-Stainton, Michelle Kuo, Jenny Nachtigall, and a conversation with Amy Sillman, Eva Birkenstock, and Kathleen Bühler, published by Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König.
